Bad Weather at AUM.

Along with Brandon, I was stuck in Goodwyn Hall's Basement for what felt like forever but I think it was only like 2 hours. As soon as I walked in class I sat down and somebody came in and said "TORNADO WARNING GO TO THE BASEMENT." So everybody packed in the basement halls like sardines. Someone came over the intercom every so often only to tell us that they have extended the tornado warning for a later time. Around 12:20 people started leaving so I of course left. I didn't have a lick of service down in the basement so as soon as I got service my phone was blowing up with text messages. AUM sent be 5 or 6 weather alerts my brother sent me a few texts telling me to call him and of course my mom sent me half a million texts asking if I was okay and all that nonsense. After I called everybody I needed to I was finally able to call my brother. He told me that Adam's Motor Sports roof was torn off and was in front of the building where he works, which is right behind Adam's Motor Sports, so I'm glad he didn't hurt. On my way home I saw a ton of police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, and the trucks that work on power lines. I was so ready to get home. At least I got out of Biology class, and we weren't given the homework that we were supposed to get for the break. But knowing my luck, my teacher will probably post in on BlackBoard for us to print out the notes and the homework to do. But at least there is no school next week, hallelujah.

Thankfulness

I have so much to be thankful for. I'm obviously thankful for my wonderful family, and friends. I'm thankful to have a job, which I love. I'm thankful to be able to go to the college that I wanted to go to where my parents could pay for it. I'm also thankful that I have a roof over my head and clothes on my back. I'm thankful for being able to live in a country where you can worship freely. I'm very thankful for all of my animals who I love. I'm thankful for Starbucks, because they have the greatest double chocolate chip frappucinos.  I'm very very thankful to have spent the last year with my awesome boyfriend who has been supportive of everything I do since day one. I'm thankful to have my 2007 Toyota Corolla, Bella, who has stayed so very faithful to me even though I put her through a lot. I'm thankful to have food put in front of me every night when I get home from work or school, by my awesome mom. I'm also thankful to have good health and not be sick all the time. I'm thankful to be in Alabama, because it is just so much better than the rest. I have so much more that I am thankful for, but I would be here all day long, so here is just a few of them.

Christmas!

Besides my birthday, Christmas is my all time favorite holiday. With Christmas just a little over a month away, decorations are already beginning to flood the stores. All the Christmas movies are even starting to come on TV. I love Christmas time because everybody seems so happy this time of year. I also enjoy seeing all the decorations, eating all the good foods, and of course seeing my awesome family. Even though most people seem happy for the holidays, there are some who are very emotional during this time of year. About 3 years ago, I went to WalMart with my mom to get groceries I'm sure. As we went to leave I noticed a man standing by the road. He was an older scraggly looking man holding bags of homemade cotton candy, like something you would get at the fair. I asked mom to stop to see what he was doing. He said he was trying to do everything he could to make a little money to buy Christmas gifts. My heart immediately broke into a million pieces. I really felt bad for this man who obviously was doing anything he could to make a few extra bucks to buy for Christmas, even if it meant freezing in the cold. I decided to take all the money in my pocket, which wasn't much but I took that and gave it to him for the 2 or 3 bags of cotton candy he had left in his hands. As we said goodbye he thanked me and we drove away. Seeing people like that during the Christmas time makes me so sad. I hope the little I gave him helped him out. This year, I think I'm going to do more to help the people who really don't have a lot of money to buy for the children and family.

Thanksgiving Food.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the whole year, only because it is one of the few holidays of the year that I got to see my family. Even though they live in Millbrook, with everybodys busy schedule it is hard to make time to go see them. Each year we go to one of my dads sister's houses for lunch. Instead of just one person cooking, everybody brings whatever they would like to. That way we have a little bit of everything to choose from. There is always plenty of food and desserts to have. Not all of my family on that side goes to this every year because they have other places to go to, but they are always there for Christmas. My brother and his wife went to our Thanksgiving last year, so this year they will be traveling to Birmingham for her family's Thanksgiving. I will be going to Millbrook with my family for just a little bit then I will be headed to Eclectic for Hunter's Thanksgiving at his Granny's. After that we get to go back to Millbrook for Thanksgiving dinner at his uncles house for Hunter's other side of the family. Needless to say I have a busy day but I am so very excited to see mine & Hunter's family. The other good thing about Thanksgiving besides all the food is not being in school. It seemed like next week would never come but in 3 more days I will finally have a week off from school, which is extremely relieving. I'm sure that in between houses on Thanksgiving I will be needing a serious nap, because all of that food is going to make me so tired. But I'm so very excited about Thanksgiving break!

CQ Researcher: Preventing Teen Drug Use

Over the past few decades the use of drugs among teenagers has steadily increased and decreased over the years. Many schools have gotten help from different programs such as D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) or S.A.D.D ( Students Against Destructive Decisions). These programs teach all different ages about what drugs can make you do, what you look like and also teaching the kids to say no. In a survey in 1992, it showed that 54 percent of all American children will have used an illegal drug by the time they graduate from high school, studies show. More than 80 percent will have used alcohol, and nearly half — 49 percent — will have smoked marijuana. Here we are 19 years later, I'm sure the survey would be quite different. I think most of what high school kids are using now is mainly alcohol and weed, not from personal experience but just from hearing things. Most all teenagers who start using drugs are influenced by their friends, which is sad. When it comes to hardcore drugs like "ecstasy", meth, cocaine, heroin, weed, or the "date-rape" drug those are anything but good, especially when someone gets addicted to them and can't get off of them. Drugs can make people do things they normally wouldn't do and drive a person crazy, especially when they have withdrawals and begin to get sick over it. I think the drug-free programs work for some people, like myself, but others it probably goes in one ear and out the other. It's very sad seeing someone addicted to a drug that has just lost all sense of control over themselves. Their appearance, personality, and everything else is so different from when they weren't on drugs. Some schools are even going as far as doing random drug-testing and suspending the ones that fail, which I completely agree with. When a teenager gets addicted to a drug they are most likely going to end up doing something they regret and end up in prison if not dead. It can also cause abuse in relationships and families. The drug prevention programs are definitely better than nothing. Even though it doesn't work in everybody, at least people will be aware of what drugs can do to you. Not all popular drugs are illegal. Some teens are getting legal substances to get high off of substances available at a drug store, including inhalants, non-prescription antihistamines and prescription pain killers. Some teens inhale the fumes of strong-smelling fumes such as finger nail polish removal, butane, glue and other such chemicals. Any drugs than someone can get addicted to can never be good. I think that more programs should be shown in school, public and private. I also think drug tests should be given randomly and anything else that can prevent teens from getting on drugs should be used. Drugs used by teens can and will most of the time result in prison, crime, getting someone else addicted or even death.

Wildlife Federation

For hundreds of years, many different types of animals have been hunted all throughout the year. Animals can be hunted for their meat, their skin, or just to have a good looking mount hanging on the wall. Some say killing animals for a sport is inhumane, which I agree up to a certain extent. Domestic animals are a completely different story and I agree that killing or fighting animals such as dogs, cats, horses or any other "family pet" is inhumane. But killing animals such as deer, elk, turkeys, and any other type of animal like that is anything but inhumane. Hunter's have a certain season for each animal every year in which they can hunt for that particular animal. That way the whole population does not go extinct. Now if we were told that we couldn't go hunting anymore, wouldn't we be overpopulated by all these animals? Every hunt, I think it's either one or 2 deer that can be killed. If your caught with more than that, your in a whole lot of trouble because those game wardens do NOT play. Each year hunter's renew their hunting license and that money goes to the wildlife conservation effort. The land that is hunted on is payed for and is definitely not cheap and is also hard to keep up. When the anti-hunting groups start rambling on about killing endangered species, I agree that's not good but where I'm from we don't do that. We hunt only in deer, rabbit, dove, and turkey season and ONLY those animals. I'm almost positive that there are people out there that virtually annihilate predators by poising them such as wolves from killing there precious deer, caribou, moose and whatever else. I agree poisoning is a bit harsh. But shooting and getting it over with is a lot better, at least I think. But like I said where I'm from we don't kill those types of animals. We mainly focus on deer, rabbits, turkey, hogs and some types of birds. The anti-hunters need to quit whining about ALL the hunters because we're not all the same. Hunting animals that multiply very quickly is by no means wrong, we don't want to be over populated by things such as deer. Don't people complain when deer run out in the middle of the road and plow their cars? I agree that the bigger animals that are small in numbers shouldn't be hunted as often. But cutting off hunting completely would be a big mistake.  I think hunting is not inhumane if its used in the right way for the right animals.

6 word memoir

Life without my bestfriends would suck.

Life would suck without fried pickles.

Halloween

As a little kid, my mom, dad or brother would be the ones taking me around the neighborhood to go
trick-or-treating. We also had a Halloween function at church every year where they would have games and each game you won a prize or candy would be won. I did that for quite some time but of course kids have to grow up sometime. I don't remember what age I stopped trick-or-treating but I was still remember going every year for awhile. After I stopped, I started working at the church Halloween festival every year. I also started taking the smaller kids that lived close to me out to trick-or-treat. When I was in the 8th or 9th grade, I started handing out candy at Jana's sisters house down the street. Sometimes we would dress up and other we wouldn't. Me & Jana always had a good time doing that for the little kids and seeing all there costumes. The last year we did it, we even found a Halloween costume for her dog and let her stay on the porch with us in her costume. I don't know to many people my age that still trick-or-treat but I think it's more for the little kids and the older ones just need to buy there own. This year I can't do much on Halloween because I have to work, bummer.

Rough Week

Last week was probably one of the roughest weeks I've had in awhile. It all started last Monday after work. After I get home, my boyfriend tells me that he broke his phone. Well considering the circumstances his insurance wouldn't cover it and he can't get an upgrade until February. Since he works in the woods all day, I didn't want him without a phone so I started asking around. I finally had found one from a friend and once I brought it home and we tried to activate it, it wouldn't work because his phone was under a smart phone plan and the other one was not. I returned the phone back to the friend I got it from and continued to find him a phone. Besides trying to find him a phone I had a math quiz to study for on Tuesday, a Biology test to start studying for, A Biology lab quiz to study for, an English paper to write and a huge Math test on Thursday. Even though I was so stressed out about everything going on, I still tried to find him a phone. I had been joking on him all week about breaking every phone he gets. I got home from school on Wednesday and had way to much stuff in my hands trying to get into the door, well I dropped my phone and busted the screen..just what I needed..not. Considering I have another year on my phone plan I just went on eBay and found a phone just like mine and ordered it, of course it cost me almost $200 with the case I bought for it. Well Friday rolls around and I still hadn't found a phone for Hunter. I called my mom and asked her to ask people on her office if they had one. Luckily a guy that she works with just got a new one and had his old one in his car. My mom brought it home and I was so excited that we finally found a phone. Well after work, Hunter came to the house and we went to activate the phone, and of course it didn't work. The phone was still activated under the old account, so he has to wait until Monday when my mom can tell the guy to cancel the phone. After work on Saturday, my mom texted me and told me my phone was in. I rushed home and ripped open the box and began to put together my new phone. I turned it on and nothing was acting right. I called T-Mobile and told them the situation and they said the best thing for me to do is bring them both in and they will fix it. I had to get there before they closed to I was rushing to leave. I was trying to change into a long-sleeved shirt and as I was taking my hoodie off, my finger got caught in my necklace and of course not thinking I yanked my hoodie over my headed and broke my necklace..again. I finally made it to Montgomery and after sitting there for close to an hour I finally got my phone fixed. After that was over, I went to Kay's Jewelers in the mall to see what they could do about my necklace. Since it has a lifetime warranty I would have to send it off to get fixed .. again. I hate giving up my necklace and I knew I would probably break it again so a lady that works there recommended getting a thicker chain. I didn't have the money right then so I told her I would have to come back. On my way home, my boyfriend called to tell me he was out of the woods and I told him what had happened. After I told him what had been going on that day he said not to worry about anything because he would go pick up a thicker chain from Kay's sometime this week. Even though I had a rough week, it's starting to piece back together and get a lot better.

Profile

I met Shenavia Macon during a class interview in my English Composition 1010 class. I didn't know who she was or even her name until this interview. During this interview I learned all about Shenavia and where she was from. Shenavia was born on October 10, 1991 which makes her twenty years old. She was born and raised in a country area of Tuskegee, Alabama with her five brothers. After attending Georgia Washington Junior High School, her and her family moved to Montgomery where she attended high school at Evangel Christian Academy. Shenavia graduated from high school with the class of 2010. She took a year off from school and started college in June 2011. After considering going to Troy University, she ended up at Auburn University of Montgomery where she is majoring in nursing. She decided to go with AUM because it is closer to home and she likes the small campus. Since she went to a small school, the smaller campus is easier to adjust to than a big university. This semester at AUM, she's taking English Comp 1010, Physchology, Math 0800 with the lab and Visual Arts. Other than school, she has many hobbies. She enjoys to go shopping, talking on the phone, social networking, playing basketball and volleyball, going fishing with her family, and deer hunting. She also enjoys watching TV when she's at home. Some of her favorite shows are Living Single, Martin, and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. If she's not watching TV shows, she likes to watch comedy, action, romance, and suspense movies. Shenavia is also an Auburn fan and her favorite football player, of course, is Cam Newton. She has a fear of snakes, lizards, spiders, and being on planes, all of which I can completely understand. Besides going by planes, Shenavia likes to travel. She's been to Georgia, Florida, Texas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. She likes to listen to R&B, Hip-Hop, Gospel, and she's now starting to get into my kind of music, country. When she finds free time, she likes to read mystery books. When she goes out, her favorite restaurant to go to is Hibachi Grill but her favorite foods are pizza and pork chops, not at the same time of course. When it comes to politics, she's like me, not interested. She's very religious, just as I am, except instead of being a Methodist like me, she's Baptist. I've learned so much about her in such a short amount of time. I didn't expect to have a lot of things in common, but we do and I enjoyed getting to know her.

Babysitting gone bad.

I started babysitting a long time ago, but when I was about 13 years old I started to babysit for a couple that went to my church. I had known them for awhile, partially because my older brother worked at his company. They asked me to start babysitting their son so they could go out with friends every now and then. At the time Tucker was about 5 or 6 years old. I loved babysitting and he was no trouble at all. I was still a little nervous about being at their house by myself with him and I certainly didn't want anything bad to happen to him. The next summer they got a pool and Tucker was like a fish and couldn't stay out of it so of course I had to watch him really close. Since I started babysitting Tucker, he has been the most accident prone kid I know. He has had a good number of dirt bike and four wheeler wrecks that led to him having scars all over him. Last summer he even ran into a pole at a restaurant and busted his eye that he had to have stitches on. But one night was definitely worse than the rest.. only because I was the only one that was there with him. It was one night that his parents had called me to ask if I could keep him for a few hours so they could go out to eat. About 45 minutes later, Tucker asked me to fix him something to eat. I go into the kitchen and was fixing what ever it was that he wanted when I heard a growling noise and then Tucker screaming. I ran into the other room and Tuckers whole mouth was gushing blood. I asked what happened and he said he blew in his dogs face and the dog bit him. I pick him up and ran him into the bathroom and took off his favorite shirt that he didn't want to get blood on. While he was still screaming I ran to my phone and called his parents to tell them what happened. Luckily they were only about fifteen minutes away so it didn't take them long to get home. As they rushed home I continued to clean him up and try to calm him down. When they got home they rushed him to the Emergency Room while I was left there with that dog. I was only fourteen or fifteen so I couldn't get home and had to call my mom to come get me. After they got home, they called me to let me know he was OK but he had to have stitches and 5 of the hospitals male nurses had to hold him down.  That was definitely a night to remember and I know he will always remember it to considering the scar that was left on his face. I still keep Tucker every now and then, I even kept him all last summer. Considering he just turned 12, there is no telling how many more accidents that kid will have.

Friends

I would have to say that throughout the years I have had a wide variety of friends. Ones that I've met from church, softball teams, cheer squads, school or anything else. Friends come and go but there are a few that have been there with me through thick and then and have never let me down. Janaof course is going to be my main best friend. She's been there with me since we were 5 years old and we've been inseparable ever since. We've gone to church together, played on the same city league teams, played sports together at school and now she lives right down the street from me. We've always been close and there hasn't ever been anything that has ever got in between us. I know I can always count on her for anything and everything. Another one of my bestfriends is Shelby. I met her about a year ago and we've have been close ever since. Her boyfriend is my boyfriends bestfriend so we're always together. She has helped me out with a lot of things and is always there to talk to. Another good friend of mine would be Darian. I met her a long time ago at church and I even got her a job with me at a tanning salon. We talk abotu everything and she's had my back ever since we got close. Work is alot easier with her working there because I always have somebody to talk to. Samantha is the last one of my girl bestfriends. She came to my school our senior year and we didn't see eye to eye when she first came but we put aside our differences and now we are very good friends. We became very close the end of our senior year and spent most of the summer together. Although I don't get to see her a lot because of school and work we still talk a lot to see how each other is doing and when we can hangout next. My last bestfriend would be my boyfriend. We've been together for almost a year and we spend all of our free time together. He's been there through a lot with me and has helped me get through some of the hardest things  I could have ever gone through. We talk about everything and I trust him with everything. I have many other friends but these few people are the only ones who have been there no matter what and have never let me down. Friendwise, they would be the only ones I trust because it is hard to find people you can trust these days. I wouldn't know what to do without them! My best friends mean a lot to me and I'm so glad I have them.

Random Blog Again.

I can't believe its' already October. It seems like we've had this hot weather in Alabama for ever. It's finally getting cold again, which means that mom starts making her homemade hot chocolate mix again, which is the best stuff I've ever had. I tried to get some hot chocolate this morning in the Library..but they were all out. But hot chocolate is not the only thing I like about this time of year because old weather means the holidays are right around the corner! Along with being out of school, I also enjoy seeing my family on Thanksgiving and Christmas. This cold weather also means that finals are about a month and a half away and the other tests are coming up too. In between studying for all the tests and work, hunting season is coming up too. Bow season starts Saturday, which means my boyfriend will be in the woods every chance he gets. But all I'm waiting on is regular hunting season to open up, then we will both be in tree stands every weekend. There is so much that is coming up soon and I'm so excited for it all to happen, but I'm definitely not ready for all the finals and tests to take before the breaks.

Fall!

I absolutely love this time of the year where football games, bonfires, and cool weather take over. This past Saturday, my boyfriend and I went to our bestfriends' dad's wedding. It was a short and to the point kind of wedding and we were in and out of there is 20 minutes. After that me & Hunter went home to change clothes then we went back to Zac's house. Zac's girlfriend, who's my bestfriend, was gone to teh store so I watched the boys destroy their targets with their bows. After Shelby got back we loaded up and went to Zav's little brother and sister's football game. Lakin, who's 7, cheers for the one of the younger  teams while Justin, who's 12, plays football for the Junior team. Even though I was pretty darn cold, I loved watching all the football games and the cool weather. Hunter even got me some hot chocolate. But after the games were over we went back to Zac's house where we got the idea to have a bonfire. The boys backed there trucks up and while me & Shelby sat on the tailgates, they started the fire. They both turned their radios on, to Legends Saturday Night of course, and we listened to it until Hunter's battery died..then Zac had to jump him off. The first weekend of cool weather was a success and I can't wait for the many more football games and bonfires during all this cool weather.

long day.

Oh how I dread coming to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays because I have to be here from 8-5 with only two classes. On these two days I have to get up at 6, and I'm definitely not a morning person. At about five o'clock this morning I hear my phone vibrate but I just left it alone and fell back asleep until it was time to get up. When I woke back up at 6, I read the text message that I had ignored earlier. It was my best friend of course.. asking if I would stop at a certain gas station to get her a cappuccino, which meant I had to leave even earlier so I wouldn't get caught up in traffic. I got ready and ate breakfast real fast and I was headed out the door. On my way out I felt a something walking through my legs as I was trying to walk, which made me trip. It was my kitten, Otis. My mom feeds my other two cats before she leaves for work but since Otis is so terribly spoiled he gets a different type of food that I feed him before I leave. Crying as loud as he possible could, I put all my stuff in my car and put my hot chocolate on the porch. I ran inside I got his food, which made the dogs get all excited because they thought they were getting a treat. I gave and gave all 3 of them a dog bone and continued to go and feed Otis. This if course made me run a few minutes late. After I got him settled, I jumped in the car and was off to the gas station. As soon as I got there I was trying to get her a cappuccino and realized that I didn't know which one to get. I texted her and presumed to get her drink. But beside the cappuccino machine was a hot chocolate machine that looked pretty good. I filled a small cup up and at the very end it started squirting water in my drink. I put tops on both of them, went to pay for them and was off. Still running behind, I get in traffic and hurry to school, only to realize my hot chocolate was so completely nasty. All that water that had gotten into it made it watered down, obviously. I got to school and made my way in to class.. without any good hot chocolate. Then the teacher started talking about our midterm and our next paper, just what I wanted to hear - not. Needless to say, I think it's going to be a long day.

False Alarm.

Sunday after I got off work, I stopped by my best friend Jana's house for a few minutes to talk. After I left, I was on my way to my boyfriends house. His mom had cooked us supper so we ate and went to his room to watch a movie. Nothing out of the ordinary, except no good movies were on so we had to settle for the huntin' channel, of course. I had fallen asleep and I kept hearing a noise.. it was the house phone. It rang and rang and rang an nobody got up to answer it. A few seconds later I hear my phone go off, but by the time I had got to it I had missed the call. It was one of my boyfriends' friends that hardy ever calls. Then I hear Hunter's phone going off, it was Aaron.. the same one who just called my phone. After Hunter gets his phone an calls his back, Aaron asked about an address that was on Hunter's road because his step-dad, who is a firefighter, had gotten a call about a house fire on Hunter's road. He only gave us a 3 digit address and all the addresses on that road are at least four, so we thought he might have missed a number. Well as cold as I was, we jumped it the truck and went to go see what was going on. The first place we went by was Ms. Fannie May, who is about 90 something years old and lives by herself. Hunter does a lot of work around her house for her so we were making sure it wasn't her house. We went all the way down to where it turns it so another road and then we turned around. Going all the way to the end of the other side of the road and we couldn't find anything. Although right at the crossroads, we smelled smoke but we couldn't figure out where it was coming from. After looking up and down his road, passing every single house, we never found anything. It must have not been to serious if we didn't see any firetrucks, flames, cops or anything.

Same old stuff, just a different day.

I don't think I've really had any really good days at work, weird days, or even any bad days at work. Since I work at a tanning salon, there is really not that many things that happen to out of the ordinary. Most every time I go to work the same things happen. I work, tan, go home and do homework, shower, and go to bed. The most interesting thing that happens is somebody comes in that I haven't seen in awhile and I will talk to them for a little while. I worked yesterday and it was a pretty regular good day at work. But yesterday, the manager of the salon had brought me a cake for some reason. I also got a lot of my homework done while I was slow at work. Another good thing was that a good bit of people that I knew  came in to tan and I talked to for awhile. After I closed up the salon, I tanned, went home and did some more homework, took a shower, called my dad, then went to bed. Nothing to interesting or anything like that ever happens at work. The same old stuff, just a different day.

I wish someone would have told me that college is not as fun as people make it out to be. I guess the big colleges are a lot more fun than small colleges like AUM. To me, AUM is all about school work and lots of it. The bigger Universities have things such as a legit football team and baseball teams that are actually big and more people tend to go to them. It would have helped me out a whole lot if someone would have told me what I needed to prepare for, that would come in handy in college. Things such as writing papers, managing time, how to do your schedule that you can handle your first year and all that nonsense. As a college Freshman, I'm balancing 4 classes 4 days a week, a job, seeing both parents and each house, and of course my sweet and loving boyfriend. But I can't say much, my best friend Jana has 2 jobs, bills to pay, a boyfriend, homework and all that. So at least I don't have such a big load like her. Although I think I am starting to get used to everything all the time. College is very very very VERY stressful but everybody tells me that your freshman year is the hardest and it will get easier.

Oh the memories.

When I was growing up I always wanted to be around my big brother. I'm not sure why but I did. Whether it was going to the batting cages, riding our bikes, playing in the yard or anything else I was always right there up under his feet. I do remember this one time he had his BB gun out on the back steps playing with it. Well he had the bright idea that he wanted to practice shooting it. So I stayed outside and played with the dogs while he went inside. A few minutes later he returned and sat back on the steps. I asked where he went and he said he emptied the gun of ALL the BB's. Very confused, I asked what he was going to do. He said he cut the ends off of Q-tips and put them in the gun. Then he told me that he was going to practice shooting on me. Then he told me to run around the yard and he was going to shoot me with the cotton end of the Q-tips and it wouldn't hurt. After about five minutes of being shot with those, I felt a sharp pain in the left thigh. I looked down and it was already starting to bruise up. Obviously he had not seen all of the BB's because he forgot one, which by that point was in my leg. My parents were inside taking a nap, but that didn't keep me for screaming and crying at the top of my lungs. He was trying to get me to be quiet but it was to late. My parents came outside and asked what had happened and after I finally got it all out, they took me inside and tried to calm me down. On the other hand, he got in tons and tons and tons of trouble. I thought it was kind of funny and still do. Needless to say, there was never a dull moment with me & my brother.

Creative Writing Prompt

Growing up I loved to play outside. Whether it was playing home run derby with older brother or in the back yard playing with my dogs, I loved to be outside. I also liked to play city league softball and cheer for our schools termite and peewee football teams. I remember one time I was in the back yard playing with our big yellow lab that was probably twice as big. I put a leash on her and wrapped the other side of it on my wrist, then I got the bright idea to throw a tennis ball and make her go and get it. Well I forgot that the leash was wrapped around my wrist and as soon as I threw it, she took off and I did to. I did a complete face plant then she drug me all the way until she got her ball. I was then covered it mud and dirt and might I add it was NOT fun. But now I think it's funny and I couldn't get mad at her because it was my bright idea in the first place. Looking back at it now, I miss being younger and not having to stress about things but everybody has to get older sometime. Me and my brother would play outside together all the time. We would go to the batting cages up the street and I would watch him play because I was to young to go in the cages. My favorite thing to do was to play home run derby with him and all of his friends. Except he would always change the rules to where he would win and he would also hit the ball way across the street so I had to go forever away to get it. Now the he's married and I'm in college i wish we would have done more things together just because we are both so busy now with work and school and everything else going on that its hard to make time for us to go and do something together.

Right now, my idea of a perfect vacation would be anywhere far away from AUM and work. I'm so incredibly exhausted from school and I need a vacation! The beach would be nice, but even just a week or 2 away from school would be good. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving break and the Christmas holidays that are right around the corner. But I'm not looking forward to the final exams and tests that come before each break. More than likely I will be going a little bit out of town with my boyfriend to see his family in Clay County for the holidays. When my family has their gatherings for Thanksgiving and Christmas, the farthest place I go is to Millbrook because that is where all my family on my dads side lives. All of my mom's family is out of state and with her job and my school and work there is just not enough time and money to go see them along with seeing our other family too. I don't really like to travel only because long car rides get me car sick. The farthest place I've been here in the last few years was Georgia, for a football game.. and of course I was car sick the whole way there and back. Although the only place I like to travel to, is of course the beach. I love love love the beach and everything about it. But hopefully the holidays will come a lot faster and I can finally get a little vacation away from school and work.

Sentence Exercise

It was working at TanZone that has helped shape the way I handle different work situations, take care of inventory orders, make sure the customers are taken care of.

She runs into Tanzone carrying her tanning lotions, revealing that she is late, is ready to tan, is concerned about being on time for her next errand.

Ahhh help!!!!

Long weeks and short weekends.

It seems like every week is getting longer and the weekends are getting shorter. Every week it gets harder and harder for me to roll out of bed and get ready to come to class. Since I live off campus, it takes me about 30-45 minutes to get home or to school, depending on traffic. So that means I have to wake up earlier to make it to school by the time class starts. Mondays and Wednesdays are my favorite class days because I only have to go to one class then I can go home and start on my homework or whatever else I have to do. Although I'm not thrilled about having to come to school 4 days out of the week, I like only have to go to school for one class then go home. Tuesdays and Thursdays are by far my least favorite days out of them all, only because I have to wake up at 6 to make it to my first class at 8 then I have to wait all the way until 3:35 until my next class, but on Thursday I have a lab at 12:30. I get a lot of my homework done but staying at school all day long is exhausting and when I don't have anything to do, it gets boring. I could go shopping during the times I don't have class, but I would be broke. I would also lose my parking spot. People might thing that's a dumb idea, but when it's 5 o'clock and your ready to get out of here and its raining, having a close parking spot is a lot better than having to walk way out to the middle of no where just to get to your car. Needless to say I'm ready for this week to be over with so I can catch up on some sleep and enjoy my weekend!!!

Physical Therapy

I have changed my mind so many times of deciding what I wanted to be when I grew up. I remember when I was real young, I wanted to be a teacher. Going into junior high, I wanted to be a doctor. Then my sophomore year of high school rolled around and I decided I wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner, until I looked up all of what they had to do then I changed my mind. My junior and senior year, I thought I wanted to be a Physical Therapist. When I applied for AUM, I set my major for pre-physical therapy. Now, I'm having second thoughts about it. My dad always told me to go into a career that I know I will enjoy going to every single day and I'm just not all that sure that Physical Therapy is the right career for me. In all honesty, I have no idea what I want to major in and I certainly don't want to major in something that I will end up not liking. I found out about Physical Therapy a few years ago when my older brother broke his elbow and had to go to go a few times a week to his therapist. I researched a little bit about it and I was getting more and more interested. A friend of mine got into a four-wheeler wreck a few months ago and was in the hospital for a few weeks and the doctors weren't 100% positive that he would be able to be back to normal. After getting released from the hospital, he was put in physical therapy and has been there for a month or so, going a few times a week. Although he said it is extremely painful and usually is not looking forward to his next visit, he said it has helped him out tremendously and he is beginning to be able to do the things he could before the wreck. I think it would definitely be an interesting job to have, along with helping people feel better after an accident or surgery. But I'm still not 100% sure that it is the right career for me. Hopefully I will figure out something soon, because I certainly don't want to have to go to college any longer than I have to just because I want to change my major.

Creative Writing Prompt 113

Another idea given from the Creative Writing Prompts-

Today I will try to accomplish more homework than I planned on doing. I have math homework I need to do. I also need to start studying for my Biology Lab midterm that is coming up soon. I also need to start on my chapter 5 work in Biology when it gets posted on Blackboard. I'm doing my best keeping up with my blogging entries for English class, but I've been slacking off on the Study Plan exercises on MyCompLab only because of all the papers, tests, quizzes and everything else I've had going on. But after I try to get a lot of that accomplished I'm going to go eat lunch and catch up with my best friend Shelby when she gets off of work. We're going to a new restaurant in Wetumpka called RJ's Chicken. Since I've been busy, I haven't had a chance to go but Shelby has been and said that it was pretty good. After we eat, I probably will end up going to Montgomery with her to start doing a little Christmas shopping. When we get home, hopefully the boys will be home and we can all go do something tonight so I can get away from the school work for just a little bit.

TGIF

Thank the good Lord it's Friday. It's been such a long week and I'm so glad I have the weekend to get away from school for a little bit, besides all the homework of course. But yesterday was quite a day, after class and the studying, it was time to give blood like I had signed up for the day before. I'm not a big fan of being stuck with a needle, but the fact that somebody might need my blood, makes it a lot easier to go through with it. I was completely fine the whole 12 and a half minutes it took to fill up the little bag. After the nurse took the needle out is when it all went downhill. She took the needle out and told me to lift up my arm so all the blood will return back the opposite direction it came from. After she told me I could put my arm down, she was wrapping my arm so I wouldn't bruise and she said I was getting clammy. I didn't think anything of it until I started getting really hot and dizzy. She leaned me back and got me something to drink and then it sounded like she was in a tunnel an I started to black out and I could barely hear her. I told her what was going on and she said I was about to pass out so she told me to lay all the way down and she out an ice pack on my neck. A few minutes later I was fine and returned to my class. It was the weirdest thing in the world but it seems like something different happens every time I go to give blood. Then later that day I was dreading going to my math class because we were getting back our test we took the previous week. We got them back at the end of class and I made a B so I was very excited, probably because I thought I failed it. So when I made it to the car I was so excited and I wanted to call somebody and tell them. I called my mom and dad numerous times but no answer. My boyfriend called when he got home from work so I was able to tell him the good news and right as I was getting off the phone with him my best friend Shelby beeped in so of course I had to tell her to. The my parents of course called right at the same time. But I eventually told everybody the good news and my story of giving blood. Needless to say, I'm so glad it's Friday.

Giving Blood

Well, today is going to be one of the busiest days I've had in a while. After my English class, I have to go study for a Math and Biology lab quiz I have today until Jana gets out of class. Then it's off to a quick lunch and then at 11:15 I'm going to give blood. After all that is over an done with I have my Biology lab, Math tutoring, Math class then I finally get to go home for awhile until I have to go to Bennetts to shoot with  Shelby and the boys. I'm not to worried about anything today except for the whole giving blood part. First of all I'm terrified of needles, but I learned to just get over it. I started giving blood my junior year when my school had a blood drive. I also gave blood my senior year, well I tried at least. After sitting there for a good 30 or 45 minutes my blood quit going through the tube connected to my arm. I tried and tried to make it go but it wouldn't, so the nurse had to take it out of my arm and throw away the bag because it wasn't all the way full. About a month before this happened I had my wisdom teeth taken out and then everything that could have possible gone wrong, went wrong. I had an allergic reaction to the medicine I was on all these bad things started happening. I was at the doctor 3 days in a row and by the last day I was sent to the emergency room, where I was stuck 7 times to get blood to test. Then of course trying to give blood at the blood drive and not being able to give a whole bag just made everything worse. So I'm a little nervous about giving blood today but hopefully I will be able to give all I can without any problems.

Muckalee Creek Water- Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan recently released his new album Tailgates & Tanlines, which I got a copy of. My boyfriend and best friend Shelby also have this CD, so I listen to it all the time. One of my favorite songs on that CD is "Muckalee Creek Water." It has so much meaning behind it and it reminds me a lot about myself and my friends, when we go down to the creek and tear stuff up on the four wheelers. It also talks when you just have to leave the truck and your cell phone and everything else at the road and your four wheeler is all you need. It also talks about a his little Jon boat on the water fishin' and when his dad took him fishin' on that same creek when he was younger, teaching him how to fish and huntin' down rabbits and squirrels. It reminds me a lot about when my older brother and dad taught me how to fish and watching them shoot squirrels in the back year. The main focus behind the whole song is just to get away from the world for a little bit and forget what the economy is doing and just go down to the creek and ride the four wheeler and go fishin'. I love this song and it will always bring back memories of learning how to fish, and watching my brother shoot squirrels, and riding the four wheelers up and down the creeks.

McDonalds vs. Burger King

McDonalds and Burger King are very similar in their choices of food. But, it seems to me like there are more McDonalds restaurants than there are Burger King restaurants. I guess Burger Kings are usually in the bigger cities such as Prattville and Montgomery, but McDonalds is every where, even in the small city of Wetumpka. I don't normally eat at fast food restaurants that much because most of the time, all the greasy food makes me sick afterwards. Neither one of them are my favorites, but I do like Burger King a lot better than I do Mcdonalds. But since there is only a Mcdonalds close to where I live, I usually have to settle for that because I'm not going to drive 20 or 30 minutes out of my way just to get Burger King. The only time I get Burger King is if I'm in Montgomery or Prattville. To me, Burger King has better french fries, burgers, chicken, everything. McDonalds has good food, but it's way to greasy for me. That's about all I have to say about that - Burger King has better food but McDonalds is more convenient and closer to where I live, so it will have to do.

Chocodelphia

I have always been a daddy's girl. When I was younger, I would always want to be right up under my dads feet. I thought he was the best dad in whole world. He would come watch my softball games, or come watch me cheer at the football games. Although he hasn't always been there for me like my mom has, but that's another story. When I was growing up, my dad would go to buy tools or something and would always take me with him. We would go get whatever he needed to get, and of course I would always pick out something I wanted, then we would go get something to eat, and then we finally got to go to what became my favorite place to go. He would take me to "Chocodelphia", which was located in Prattville. It has every kind of chocolate and candies you can think of. My dad would let me pick out whatever I wanted and then he would get it for me. The relocated to another part of Prattville when I got a little bit older, but me and my dad still made a point to go over there. For Valentine's day last year, I went over there and bought my parent's all of there favorite kinds of chocolates. A few months or even weeks later, they were closed. I was so disappointed when I saw they were not open anymore. I asked dad what had happened to it, and he said they were just not getting enough business to stay open. Because of this, Dad and I can't make trips every now and then to get our favorite chocolates. Hopefully they will open up again one day.

The cabin & the water.

I love to be in the water, or even around it.  Whether I'm at the beach, the lake, the river, or a pond- I love the water. I love to swim, inter tube, fish, and anything else that has to do with the water. Even though in some areas of water I have to worry about snakes and alligators, it doesn't bother me enough to stay out of the water. If I could be at the lake or something every day, I would be a happy camper. But if I did I probably wouldn't get a whole lot done. I would be to busy outside to worry about anything else.

I also love to be in the woods, especially at the cabin. A few years ago, my boyfriend and his dad built a cabin on their huntin' land a long ways behind their house. It's a small cabin, but it has an upstairs bed, and ol' timey stove, and all sorts of things in there. Outside you can find a a grill, a fire pit, the generator, and some chairs. The cabin is one of my favorite places to be. Hunter and I usually will go out to the cabin and grill out with some friends. We normally take the four wheelers because most trucks can't get back there without tearing something up or getting stuck in the mud holes. Besides the water, the cabin is another one of my favorite places to be!

Homework!

I usually look forward to Friday's because for one, I don't have to wake up early and two, I go to school Monday- Thursday so I'm usually ready for Friday to come around. Although, this Friday is filled with nothing but school. It seems like I can't get away from it. I have my first Biology test on Monday so today I have 3 chapters of study guides to do, 2 things of homework, and an online quiz to take .On top of that I have an English paper to start writing and some online things to do for that class as well. Anyways, I always look forward to Friday's because I can sleep late. Nope, not this Friday.. I woke up at like 8 and couldn't go back to sleep so I thought I might as well get started on my homework. I'm so ready for a long break so I don't have to worry about papers, homework, quizzes, tests, and anything else college wants to throw at me. Hopefully I will get most of it done today, so I will have the rest of the weekend to do whatever and not worry about having to do homework. Hopefully I won;t get to distracted by something like Facebook that will keep from doing all of this homework. But as soon as I get it all done and over with I will feel so much better!

Math Test

I had my first math test yesterday, and I was so nervous. Every since I completely bombed my first math quiz, I have been going to tutoring for about 2 hours every Tuesday and Thursday. The homework seemed to be clicking faster and the next quiz I had, I made a 93 on it. I have studying my butt off to make sure I know how to do everything and making sure all my homework is done. Well, yesterday I studied during my break and then again after lab. I even went to tutoring to make sure I knew all the material. The time for test had finally come and I was feeling very confident. The teacher said it shouldn't take all the class time but we have the whole time to do it. He handed out the test and I scanned through it, there was 19 questions on it. I began working then I just went blank, forgetting most of everything I had been studying for. I got as far as I could in the problems I could figure out, but then I would just forget what I was supposed to do next to finish the problem. The easiest question on there had 3 parts to it and I had to tell if it was a type of a function or not my doing the vertical line test, well of course I got it mixed up and thought I was supposed to do the horizontal line test. He does give partial credit, so I'm hoping I did better than I think I do but then again I probably didn't!

Human beings do 3 kinds of things: things that are also done by animals, things that will one day be done by robots, and art.

Human beings do 3 kinds of things: things that are also done by animals, things that will one day be done by robots, and art.

I'm going to start with subject on art. Some human beings are very artistic and use art to express what they're feeling or even to show the environment around them. There are so many types of art that people can do. Things such as paintings, sculptures, self portraits and so on. Some even use their artistic ability to design the inside of some one's house. People use these things to show their talents or even because they enjoy doing it. Some forms of art can't be figured out unless it is studies hard enough. Even though I'm not all that artistic, I still have respect for the people who are because it takes a lot of skill to be able to do some of the art that you see in every day places.

Our world has become so full of technology and so concerned about making something better. All of the machines, cell phones, computers, ipods and all of that nonsense have become so technological and everybody wants the newest thing. Before we know it, everything that we do as humans such as in a workplace, will be done by robots. Who knows, all the cleaning, cooking and driving a car could even be done by robots. I wish the world would not have turned out to be so advanced in technologies, because it makes people lazy, and if everything was done by robots there would be nothing for us to do.

There is not much I can say about the things that human beings do that animals also do. But a few things that both of them do would be things such as taking care of their young, reproducing, grooming and so on. Humans and animals are also smart, one might be smarter than the other but they are both smart. That is really all I have to say about that.

CWP #62!

Another idea I saw from Creative Writing Prompts was to write about "A funny thing happened to me on my way to.." So here I go, yet again.

There is probably so many things that have been funny that have happened to me, but because my memory.. sucks, I will just tell about one that happened recently. Last week I only had to go to two days of classes instead of four because of holidays. Last Thursday was probably one of the better days I've had at AUM. I one of my papers finished, I did exercises for my English class, went to tutoring and got some homework done, and I was also given my last quiz in math, which I made a 93 on. I was so excited about my grade in math and everything else that I had accomplished that day, so I decided to treat myself to Starbucks before i headed home. I got my Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino and pulled up to throw away the paper off the straw. Little did I know, the things that stick up out of the trashcans, were lower than I thought.. yep you guessed it.. I hit it with my side mirror. Instead of reversing to keep it from scratching any more of my window I just kept on cruising along. Thinking nobody saw me, I looked up and two guys were outside looking and snickering. I couldn't help but to laugh and think to myself that it would only happen to me. I called my mom tell her what happened to she wouldn't freak when she saw a scratch on my car, and she couldn't do anything but laugh. At least she wasn't mad, but now I have got to figure out a way to get that scratch out of the side mirror. Some people wouldn't be to happy if they scratched their vehicle, but I on the other hand, thought it was funny and that I WOULD be the one do something like that. Now I know to just keep the paper from the straw inside my car until I get home.

Facebook, Is. So. ADDICTING!

One of the things I have learned since Facebook was created is that it's very very VERY addicting to some people. I am guilty of this. Usually I will go on the Internet to check my email from school, or print something out for homework, or do some blogs, or anything else that has to with school. If it doesn't have to do with school, then I am more than likely just shopping on the Internet. While I'm shopping or doing homework, I find myself wandering on Facebook, seeing what everybody is doing. I actually saw a status on there last night from a friend and she said "Facebook affects your ability to study." I kind of laughed a bit and then went about doing whatever it was I was on the computer for the first place and then I started thinking, it really does affect people in the way they study.. or supposed to be studying. Such as last night, I was supposed to be studying for a math quiz I have today and ended up on Facebook. There have many occasions that I have been on the computer typing a paper or researching something for a project and got distracted by the temptation to be on Facebook. If I'm not on the computer, Facebook is not a big deal to me but it seems like every time I need to use the computer for homework or school or anything else... I end up getting on Facebook and wasting time. Like now for instance, I need to be doing things in "My Study Plan" for my English class or studying for math but before I started blogging, I got on Facebook. I hope this addiction doesn't continue to worsen otherwise I will be in trouble.

More help from CWP!

I just love the link my English teacher gave my class to help us to get ideas for our blogs, it's so much help. One of the ideas was to write about a place I go when I want to get away from work, family, life, etc - so here I go.

When I have so much stress or just want to get away from everything, I usually go to the lake or jump on the four wheeler and  just ride with my boyfriend. Unlike a lot of boys, my boyfriend is definitely one in a million. He's one of my best friends and one of the only people I can count on for anything. He also is one that never makes me stress over anything and is the first person that is there to help when I am having problems with something. But anyways, I usually go with him somewhere for a little until I get to feeling better. If we're not on the four wheelers, we usually go to the lake and go fishing for a little bit, that always makes me feel better. If I'm not with him, there is one thing that ALWAYS makes me feel better when I just want to get away, and that's shopping. I don't know why, but it always makes me feel better to just go shopping by myself for a little while. I guess I just need to time to get away from the situation and get my thoughts together to figure out the best way to handle it. If there was any other place I could go when I want to get away, would definitely be the beach. I love being at the beach! But since I work and go to school and have all that to deal with, I can't just get up and go to the beach whenever I want although it would be nice. I'm not stressing to much about anything but school so it's nothing big so I won't be needing to get away any time soon.

Creative Writing Prompt ideas!

I took my teachers' advice and decided to go to the creative writing link to help get ideas for blogs. I found one that says start off with "Today I will.." and that is just what I'm going to do.

Today I will be going to tutoring for my Pre-Calculus class at 1:00 p.m. after that I'm going to do a little homework and then at 3:35 p.m. I have my math class until 5. Bright and early this morning I had my English Comp class where I blogged, reviewed over a few classmates' papers and listened to what my teacher had to say today. After that class was over, I headed to the library to get some homework done. I finished an English paper that is due Thursday and I also studied for a math quiz I have today. I also have my first test in math on Thursday so we are having a review day in class today after the quiz. Sometime this week, I also have a quiz in Biology and a Biology Lab quiz to take. Some much has to be done this week and so many tests I have to take, but I'm just going to take it one day at a time. But after math class is my favorite part of every Tuesday and Thursday because I finally get to go home. Although I get stuck in 5 o'clock traffic, I would rather be heading home than in class. When I get home I start my homework and wait for my mom to finish cooking. Tuesday's and Thursday's seem to be the longest out of them all, but hopefully this week will go by fast and I will make it through everything going on this week.

Repost Exercise

Every year it seems like Alabama goes through its stages of bipolar weather, and last week was one of them. Just as I was starting to enjoy the cool weather, it starts getting hot outside again. Last week, it started to feel like fall, where I could wear blue jeans and a t-shirt and not get hot. Then all of a sudden the weather took a 180 and started getting hot again. I love to seeing Summer arrive, but by the end of August I'm ready for the Fall weather to come in. I remember a few years ago around Christmas time, I was cheering in the Christmas parade and instead of wearing warm clothes.. I was wearing a cheer t-shirt and my cheer pants. I also remember a year or two ago on March 1, it was snowing. We have the weirdest weather down here in the south, but there isn't anything anybody can do about it so we all have to just live with it. It seems like every summer is getting hotter and every winter is getting a litter colder. I love Alabama and everything in it, but sometimes I wish the weather would be the right temperature at the right time, instead of being cold one week and hot the next. Although I would like to wear shorts to my all days classes, I end up wearing jeans because it's so cold in the classrooms. So I go from a classroom that is most likely set on 61 degrees such as my math class, to going outside where it is burning up. I don't think going from cold to hot is very good, considering within the first week of school I was already catching a cold, my guess was because of going from getting really cold to really hot.  I guess I will be in shorts and a t-shirt again for awhile.

First College Test

In high school, tests were never a big deal for me because usually I knew what I was doing and I knew the teachers long enough where I knew how they tested. But college is way different. I have no idea what the teachers expect or how they do their test. I have had 2 quizzes in my math class, biology class, and biology lab class. I did well on all of them except for the first math quiz. After I bombed that quiz, I began meeting with the teacher two days a week for two hours for tutoring. The last quiz I had in there I made a 93, so I think the tutoring is helping. Next Monday I have a my first Biology test and I am so nervous already. I also have my first test in math on Thursday , which I'm really not looking forward to. I have a quiz tomorrow in math which I am not looking forward to either. On Thursday I have a paper due in English, a quiz in Biology and in Biology lab, and a test on Thursday. Needless to say I'm ready for the weekend already. I'm very nervous for my first tests and hopefully I will do good on them. I'm going to have to really buckle down this week and study hard to make sure I make a good grade on all of the things I have going on in the next few days.

Alabama Weather

Every year it seems like Alabama's weather gets weirder and weirder. Just as I was starting to enjoy the cool weather, it starts getting hot outside again. Last week, it started to feel like fall, where I could wear blue jeans and a t-shirt and not get hot. Then all of a sudden the weather took a 180 and started getting hot again. I love to see Summer come, but by the end of August I'm ready for the Fall weather to come in. I remember a few years ago around Christmas time, I was cheering in the Christmas parade and instead of wearing warm clothes.. I was wearing a cheer t-shirt and my cheer pants. I also remember a year or two ago on March 1, it was snowing. We have the weirdest weather down here in the south, but there isn't anything anybody can do about it so we will just have to deal with it. It seems like every summer is getting hotter and every winter is getting a litter colder. I love Alabama and everything in it, but sometimes I wish the weather would be the right temperature at the right time, instead of being cold one week and hot the next. I guess I will be in shorts and a t-shirt again for awhile.

Cold Mud.

Instead going bowfishing, me, Hunter, Shelby, and Zac changed it up a little bit. Friday night we loaded up the four wheelers, filled them up with gas and hit the dirt roads in Eclectic. For hours, we crawled up steep hills, dodged the branched, and tore up everything possible in the way. It was probably around 11 o'clock when we made it back to Zac's. Then we decided to go back behind his house and ride on the huntin' land, where we found a mud hole. Without sinkin' the four wheelers, we tore up every rut and any other spots in that mud hole. There was one time, me and Hunter went through it and the headlight were under the muddy water, but we managed not get stuck but we did manage to get covered in mud that was freezing cold. We had to call it quits early because Zac had to go to work the next day, while the rest of us were off. By the time we got through, we were all covered from head to toe in freezing cold mud. I had to change clothes and put everything in the back of Hunter's truck. By the time I had gotten home it was probably 2 or 2:30 in the morning. I planned on sleeping late since I didn't have to work the following morning. It was 8o'clock Saturday morning and my phone keeps going off...it was Shelby. I ignored it and went to go back to sleep, but then I got to thinking that something might be wrong if she was calling me this early and she didn't have to work. So I called her back to make sure everything was okay, and of course nothing was wrong.. she wanted to go shopping for Zac's mom because it was her birthday. I got my butt out of bed and did my math homework then got ready to go. We shopped all day long and finally found her something. When I got home Hunter called and wanted me to go up there and help him with the four wheeler. Needless to say, I was exhausted and ended up falling asleep after we cleaned up the four wheeler. But like always, we had a fun weekend and I'm already ready for next Friday to roll around.

9/11

Every year on this day since 2001, people typically remember where they were when the nation was under attack. In Sunday School and in church this morning, we talked a lot about this subject, which made me want to write a about it. Not only on TV, but even on the radio, people are telling where they were during the attack. But ten years ago on this day, I was in the third grade and I had Mrs. Byrd. I missed school that day because my grandfather had passed away 3 days early on September 8. People typically think more about our country, what had happened, and the loved ones that were lost on this day each year. I also think about those things, but I always think about my grandfather more than anything. Since it was my mom's dad that passed away, she's always very emotional on this day. I can't even begin to imagine the people who lost loved ones in this tragic event. When I was in high school, I still remember watching the news from that day which a teacher had recorded, watching movies such as Flight 93, and also watching documents on the 9/11 attack. This day every year is a very sad and emotional day, but it will never be forgotten and the ones that were lost will always be remembered.

Senior English Class

All throughout my English classes in high school, I goofed off more than I did anything. I didn't like to write and I certainly didn't like to read. We didn't learn much of anything good in those classes anyways, so I just decided to spend my time goofing off, which most of the time led me in to getting in trouble almost every other day. Even though I spent most of my time getting in trouble and goofing off, I still made sure I wasn't missing anything important, which most of the time I wasn't.  It wasn't until my senior year that I started to learn something in an English class. In the previous years, I didn't like the teachers I had but one, and she moved to a different state. But my senior year I had Mrs.Mcvay, who was my old cheer coach from a few years back. I also cheered with her oldest daughter and coached her youngest on the Termite cheer squad. So I knew a lot about Mrs. Mcvay going into her class. I learned more in one year of her class than I have in any other English class I've had before. Mrs. Mcvay showed us all types of movies such as Becoming Jane, Star Wars, Beowulf, Frankenstein and so a whole lot more. We took notes on the movies, and at the end of each of them, we did a paper or some kind of project. She taught us how to identify the themes, symbols, and meanings behind things in the movies that I would have never payed attention to. Not only was she a good teacher, but she was also somebody that you could tell anything to. Sometimes we would even spend a class period having conversations about anything and everything that most of the time, taught me some kind of lesson. Without her, my writing wouldn't be where it is today. I've also learned so many more things in English and life lessons that I never would have learned without her.

Southern Hospitality

If I had the chance to move any where besides the small towns I stay around now, I wouldn't. Most people are so ready to get away from this town by the time they graduate, but not me. I don't usually go far from where I live, besides the beach. Besides Wetumpka, where I live, I'm usually in Eclectic, Wallsboro, or Prattville. If I go to Prattville it's either to see my family, or to go shopping. Usually, I only go to Montgomery for school or if I want to go shopping. Eclectic, Wallsboro and Wetumpka is where all my friends and my boyfriend live, so that's where you can find me most of the time.
I could never move away from these small towns, because of many different reasons. One reason would be the southern hospitality that you can't find other than the south. No offense to the North, but everybody around the south are a lot nicer. Whether your just driving down the road and people wave just to say "hey", even if they don't know you. Most people around these towns, have grown up with somebody in your family and always ask about them when they see you. Besides the people, I could never give up the southern food, sweet tea, or even seeing cows 4 or 5 times before I ever make it to my boyfriend's house. I've learned that it's the little things that mean the most, and I wouldn't ever give that up and move away from these small towns of sweet home Alabama.

Long Labor Day Weekend.

Last week I was waiting for Thursday at 5:05 because that's when my five day weekend started. After my last class on Thursday, I went home and took my Biology 1010 quiz and then I was off to Bennett's Archery to meet up with Hunter, Zac, Shelby and two of our other friends that went. After watching the boys finish up shooting their bows, we finally left and I headed to a Hunter's for a little bit. The next day, I tried to get caught up on a little bit of my homework and I cleaned the house for mom. When Hunter got off of work, we went to Walmart to get his hunting license, which is another story, and grabbed something to eat. Saturday, he went to Prattville for a dove shoot while I was at work, missing the Alabama game. After we both got home, we met at his house and grilled out with his family. On Sunday, I got up and went to church, came home and took a nap, then went to Hunter's. I wasn't feeling so good, so while he was outside washing his four-wheeler, I took some medicine and layed on the couch and watched movies the rest of the night. Monday, Hunter was supposed to go to work but since it was raining to bad they couldn't do anything with the machines. So he met me at the house and we went to my brother's house in Prattville, to cook out with him and his wife, her parents and grandad, her sister and brother-in-law, and my parents. After we left there, I went to my dad's with Hunter for a little bit then we headed back to my mom's house. Today, I think I'm going to try to get more of my homework done and when Hunter gets off, I have to go to Bennett's Archery again tonight. I've enjoyed this long labor day weekend and I hate to see it end.

Trip to Walmart.

As you may or may not know, today is opening day for dove hunting. Last night my boyfriend, Hunter, and I went to Walmart to renew his hunting license because his ran out last week. Of course, I couldn't make this trip because I have a job that makes me miss things such as this. But anyways, we went to get shells and his license. As he's looking for the one's he wants, I'm looking around at the line of people waiting to get their license renewed as well, because everybody's expires on the same day. I asked one of the men how long he had been waiting and he said about ten minutes. With signs all through out the department telling the days when the doves shoots were, they had to know people were going to be there the day before renewing their license, but yet nobody was there to help.I decided to take things into my own hands and I went on a search to find somebody. I went to another department where I saw another man waiting in line and he said "He's been on the phone for about 15 minutes and has yet to help me." So I said "Sir, your going to have to get off that phone." He rolled his eyes and I said "Look, all I need is for you to page somebody to go the hunting section." He sent me to another department and before I knew it I heard them calling somebody to go to the hunting section. About ten minutes went by and still nobody to help us. Two other men went to go find somebody and one of them ended up going to find the manager. Before he showed up, a girl that worked there came over there and said she didn't know how to do the license so she couldn't help. I asked her where the girl that was supposed to be working the hunting department was and she said "Oh, she's still on break." I was thinking, "Holy crap how long of a break do they get." The manager finally showed up and I didn't hesitate to tell him what I thought about the situation. He got the computer up and started getting the information from the man in front of us for his license. About twenty minutes went by and I asked what was taking so long to print out a piece of paper and he said the computer was slow and that was the only one that could do the license. After spending almost an hour and a half in Walmart, we finally make it out of there with about 9 other unhappy customers still waiting in line. I was wanting Subway, so Hunter went by there and of course, because we spent the whole night in Walmart, Subway was closed. I settled for Mcdonalds and then we finally made it home. Never again will I ever go the day before the season starts to renew mine or Hunter's hunting license.

Alabama's Opening Day

I love Alabama football, end of story. My boyfriend, brother, dad, and most of my best friends are all right there with me. My brother loves Alabama football so much that he arranged the day he got married around Alabama's schedule. Although they were playing on the Saturday he got married, we set up TVs in almost every room that everyone was going to be in getting ready. The whole wedding lasted 14 minutes. After that was over, we went straight to the reception in  the Family Life Center at my church and finished watching the game. His grooms cake was an Alabama cake. A big fat red Alabama "A" on top and was decorated in black and white houndstooth on the rest of the cake.

But besides that, today is Alabama's first game of the season. Alabama opened their season this morning against Kent State at the beautiful Bryant-Denny Stadium. Tons of fans are gathered in Tuscaloosa, Alabama as we speak watching some good ol' Alabama football. I would love to be watching the game, or even listening to it on the radio. But what am I doing instead of watching the game? I'm at work. Just the place I wanted to be on Alabama's opening day. Even though I can't watch the game, I'm still wearing one of my Alabama shirts and houndstooth accessories to show my support. Hopefully I will not be having to miss anymore games but at least I do have a job. But until I get off of work, I will keep looking up updates on the game from facebook and any other place I can find.

Cold Summer Night?

Usually on the weekends, I'm with my boyfriend and my two best friends, Zac and Shelby, out fishing or doing something else together. Well this past weekend was different. A few of Hunter's friends have been texting him asking to hang out with them for a long time, so last weekend we did. Before we went to grill out and ride four wheelers with them, we helped Hunter's dad burn some of the field at Ms. Fannie May's, who is a very very old lady who lives by herself down the road from Hunter. Before we could leave, two of our friends were going tom meet us at Ms. Fannie May's field. They had to go the back way since his truck couldn't go through the fence, well he ran over a stump and all you hear is this loud noise.. he had popped his brand new tire. So we take them back to the house and we load of the four wheelers and go down to the house we we're grilling out at. They boys were outside cooking and since our friends had just moved in, they didn't have their cable hooked so m and the other two girls played the Wii until it was time to eat. After we ate we got on the four wheelers and were ready to ride. Since its summer, people usually expect it to be a little warmer at night. Oh no, not tonight. It was so cold, but luckily Hunter made me take his hoodie and sweatpants for if I got cold because I guess he figured that I would. Now you gotta think about this, it's already kinda cool when you walk outside, but then when you get on a four-wheeler and your going at least 60 mph with nothing to keep you warm but the clothes on your back, it gets cold real quick. Even though I was freezing, we rode for awhile going through all sorts of trails and dirt roads. Then we came to this huge hill looking thing with ruts and holes and everything else you can think of. After climbing this monster hill on the four wheeler we rode up to the cabin, which Hunter and his dad had built a few years ago. After we left there we rode the four wheelers a little bit longer and decided to call it a day. The whole time I was freezing cold, but I just dealed with it and just kept riding. If there was one lesson that I learned this weekend, it would be always bring a sweatshirt and long pants to have while we're riding four wheelers.

Summertime Heat.

As everyone is well aware, this summer has been probably the hottest summers we've had in Alabama in years. With the humidity increasing every year, it has been so miserable to even walk outside. Even things that a lot of people enjoy in the summertime such as going to the lake or getting in the pool and grilling out weren't all that enjoyable because of the heat. It has even been to hot to have the windows down while your driving because it feels like your breathing in nothing but hot air. When I would wash my car, I would break a sweat before I had gotten any soap onto my car. Luckily, I didn't have to be out in the heat all day during the summer. I babysat during the day and worked at my other job, which was a tanning salon, at night. So being scorching hot sun, wasn't something that I had to go and do all day. On the other hand, my boyfriend does. He works for the Tallapoosa Logging Company and is in the heat 50 weeks out of the year, giving him a week off for Christmas and the Fourth of July. Because he has to wear long pants and boots to work, when he comes home he is usually drenched in sweat. But I know he is not the only one dealing with the heat all day. I feel bad for all the people that have to work out in the sun when it's almost 100 degrees outside and the humidity is ridiculous. I've even broke a sweat walking back and forth to classes. I like to wear shorts on the days that I only have one class but the other two days I have to come I have to wear jeans because when I'm in class or in the library doing my homework, I'm usually freezing. Then I walk outside to go to another class or to my var and I get hot all over again. Everybody loves to see summer come, but I think by the end of the summer everybody is ready for the cool weather that fall and winter brings.

What would you change about your highschool, if you were made principal?

Along with my best friend Jana, I went to the same private school since I was five years old. The largest the whole school ever got from K-12th grade was about 300 and some odd people. When I graduated, there was only about 200 and something people, 17 of which were graduating with me. I liked my principal and quite frankly wouldn't want to be a principal of any school, but if I were made president I wouldn't change a whole lot. The things I would change would be getting bigger lockers. I had such a hard time keeping all my books and binders organized in the small lockers we had, so after trying for so long, I finally just gave up. Half the time after each class I would just smush my books in my locker and get whatever book I needed for the next class and be done with it. Another thing I would change, would be another place for the cheerleaders to practice. Since I was a cheerleader from the time I started second grade all the way until I graduated, we always had a conflict with the other teams that needed to practice that time of the year such as the volleyball and basketball teams. I would also make a class required for juniors and seniors that teaches them about dealing with the real world such as handling money, family and all that. That's about all I would change because everything else at Edgewood was fine with me.

Decisions, Decisions.

I've been having a lot of trouble lately not only with school, but whether I'm in the right major or not. I've changed my mind so many times of what I wanted to major in and Pre-Physical Therapy was the last thing that I decided on. I mean, how do you know what you want to do for the rest of your life anyways? There's so many different jobs out there and I still have no idea what I want to be. I've thought long and hard about the whole Pre-Physical Therapy thing and after I signed up for that major at AUM, I really started to reconsider. It just doesn't seem like something that I would enjoy doing for the rest of my life. I mean this is a pretty big decision, it's not like your picking out what to have for lunch or something like that. The decision made for a major is kind of a big deal and I don't want to make the wrong choice only to find out that after going into it, I don't like it. I just don't understand how you know what you want to be or what you want to major in. Oh well, maybe it will come to me. If not, I guess I will spend a whole lot of time in college deciding what I want to major in.

Schedule

I've only been attending AUM for just a few short weeks, but I have already learned what to do differently next semester, such as my schedule. I'm taking 3 classes and a Biology lab one day a week. I'm taking 2 of those classes and the lab are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I only have one class. Therefore, it has became a pain in the butt to drive 45 minutes back and forth to Montgomery our days a week. On Tuesdays, I have a long break in between classes from 9:15 a.m. all the way to 3:35 p.m. In this break, I have ended up going to the Library or Goodwyn Hall to do my homework. I have been in Goodwyn hall many times doing by homework, but have learned that it is much easier to get distracted from all the people walking in and the doors opening and closing a half of a million times, so I have decided just to go to the Library until my best friend gets out of class at 10:40. Then we go get some lunch and then she leaves to go to a class at 12:45. That's when I return to the Library and do some more homework. I think next semester I'm going to try to get my classes on 2 days a week instead of having to go all 4 days.

Discourse Community

About a week ago, we learned in class about discourse community and the language that is used in each. We wrote a short essay about in class and that was about it with that subject. Well last night, I went to Millbrook with my boyfriend to meet me dad and brother at a Habeneros to grab something to eat and catch up since I haven't seen them in a little over a week. After that we went back to my dads house to just visit with him and since my brother's wife was out of town so he went with us. We stayed there for about 4 or 5 hours, just sitting around talking. During most of that time, I was just listening because it was very obvious I was not apart of their discourse community. My dad, brother and boyfriend were talking away about anything from fourwheeler parts, tractor parts, how they've fixed old trucks they've traded something else for, and every thing else they could think of. My boyfriend works for a logging company and he was showing pictures on his phone of some kind of part he broke last week. He tried showing me and telling me what it what, but it was like they were speaking a whole other language. I had no idea what they were talking about pretty much the whole time. I think I did catch some of the conversation and something about my boyfriend is going to get my brother a truck he wants to trade his mud truck for, or something like that. All the talk about trucks, parts, tractors, fourwheelers, and whatever else they were talking about was completely over my head. That is when the whole discourse community thing came into play and I realized that I was obviously not apart of it.

Another hobby.

If there's one thing I like to do at home, it would have to be baking. I absolutely love to bake things. Anything from cakes, cookies, brownies, pies and anything else I cant think of. I've finally started getting good at them, because for awhile they didn't always turn out like planned. This past summer, my mom wanted me to make my dad a cake for his birthday. I got to thinking and I decided to add food coloring to the batter and try to make the cake red. It was a yellow cake and mixed with a whole bottle of red food coloring, the cake turned out pink.. not just pink, but hot pink. I put the chocolate icing on it and put it in the cake holder and took it to my brothers. After we took dad out for his birthday, we went back to my brothers house and cut the cake. Everyone was a little shocked at the color of the cake and I was just sitting back laughing. I told them what had happened and that it was supposed to be red, not pink. My brother thinks I should give it up but that's not happening. I've had a number of experiences while I was attempting to bake, including accidentally setting my best friends house on fire. We were trying to make those sugar donuts that are at the Chinese restaurants, and with a little to much heat and grease, the whole back wall of the stove turned into s huge flame. We eventually put it out ourselves, but my best friend ended up with burn marks all up her arm from the pan we used and the back of the stove didn't turn out so good either. Needless to say, I love baking but it seems like I have more bad experiences than good. Although, I have made a lot of things that turned out like they were supposed to, without any destruction.

Animals!

I have a big heart when it comes to animals. As a result, we have 6 animals, 3 dogs and 3 cats, all of which stay outside of course. I have even talked my boyfriend into keeping a dog that showed up at his house not to long ago. For him that makes 3 dogs, one if which just had 2 puppies, and thirteen beagles that stay at the cabin for huntin' season. We have had a number of animals since I was little, most of them strays. They just show up and once I feed them they never leave and I can't say no. Four or five years ago I was at the ball park and someone was giving them away and said if nobody took the last one, they were just going to leave it there, and of course I couldn't let that happen. I brought it home and I have had him ever since. My other was also a stray, he showed up 2 summers ago and has stuck around ever since. About a month or two ago, my mom woke me up telling me there was a kitten out front but she said we couldn't keep it. After playing with it some of the day, I told mom we couldn't get rid of it and talked her into keeping it, which makes cat number 3. Throughout the years we have had many more cats, but they got to old and died. We have also have a number of dogs since I was little, but like I said earlier we only have three now. We have an American bulldog, a Cocker spaniel and a wired haired dachshund. We got Roxie, our American bulldog, from my brother's friend who breeds them. She's absolutely beautiful and we love having her around. Casey, the cocker spaniel, was given to my brother for Christmas from his girlfriend at the time, and they broke up about a year later. Needless to say, when he got married and moved out, Casey stayed here but she's also fun to have around. Then there's Shaggy, the wired haired dachshund, who we have had for a very long time and we got from the pound. He usually stays inside during the night because he is so old. He only likes my mom, dad, brother and I and growl and bark and everything else when somebody comes in so we have to put him up, but I do live that dog. I love my animals and could never give any of them away and I will continue to keep any that show up, if mom lets me of course.

Shopping.

One of my favorite things to do in my free time is to go shopping. I love to shop, plain and simple. Whether I'm shopping for myself or for my boyfriend or anybody else, I always love going. Sometimes I think I have a shopping problem because it seems like if I swipe that plastic card one time, I'll swipe it a million times. During the summer, I would go shopping all the time. If I'm just at the house, bored I will end up going shopping for a few hours. Now that I'm at school most of the time, I don't have a lot of time to go shopping, because I'm always busy with homework or in class. Although, on Friday's if I don't have any homework or anything to do, I think I will start going shopping again. Usually I'm out shopping with my best friend Jana or Shelby. I love to buy clothes, shoes, and anything else I find or that I need. Just last week,  Jana and I went to the pet store and bought one of her dogs another outfit and a zebra print bow. I have three dogs and none of them will wear dog clothes, I like going with Jana to pick out clothes for her dogs. Out of anything I shop for, clothes would have to be my favorite thing to shop for because you can never have to many clothes. I love to shop and will probably be going again soon.

Texting.

Every day when I'm walking to my classes, I bet half the people I pass have a cell phone in their hand, texting. I can't say anything, because I am one of those people too. People now a days would almost have a heart attack if something happened to their precious cell phone, and again I can't say much about that either because I would probably flip if something were to happen to mine. Everywhere you turn somebody has a cell phone close by them. People are even using them while there driving and walking, which I have seen a number of people run into things because they are to concentrated on their phones. There have even been many wrecks caused by people using their cell phones. Texting has also gotten a lot of people into more trouble than they could have imagined, by sending inappropriate pictures and messages. But texting has helped many people out in certain situations. You know those awkward moments that feel like they last forever, what do people do? They pull out their cell phone and stay occupied until the awkward situation is gone. If there is one thing that texting causes, it would have to be drama. Someone says something to someone else and it gets spread all over school, which leads in some serious drama. Although it is a good way to keep in touch with people when you don't have a bunch of time you can give up just to talk on the phone. I personally, love my cell phone and texting. But there are times that I want to throw it out the window, with its constant vibrating and going off when I'm trying to do homework and anything else I'm trying to concentrate on. I think texting is good for every one who uses it, as long as it's not used for the wrong reasons and is doesn't get out of control.

Social Networking- Facebook

Between all the social networks that have been made over time, the most popular right now seem to be Facebook and Twitter. I personally, have a Facebook, which I use to keep up with friends and to get in touch with family and friends that I don't get to see that much or even get to talk to a lot. I also use it to keep in touch with classmates who have moved of and it is the only way to get a hold of them.
The only time I ever use it, is either when I have to be on the computer at home, when I'm in class, or I'm bored in between classes and I play around on it on my phone.
I think the whole social networking thing can be a good and a bad thing. It can be used for good for some people because it helps them to get in touch with classmates, friends and family who they haven't seen or talked to in years. It can be a bad thing for others because some will sit behind a computer screen all day and stay on some social networking site, looking at everybody else's profiles all day. Some use Facebook just to stir up drama and to see how much attention they can get. I think Facebook could help it friendships because if a friend or family member has moved away and that was the only way you could get in contact with them, could turn into meeting somewhere one day and having lunch and catching up with one another. I might also hurt them because instead of going and hanging out with friends and family, some will sit behind the screen. Overall I think Facebook is a good think to keep in contact with people but could also be a bad thing if it gets to addicting.

My Job.

For a little over a year now, I have been working at a tanning salon in Wetumpka. I love my job and most of the girls that work there, but I'm not all that crazy about my boss but I just deal with her. I've have met so many people just from working there, and most of the customers will sit down and have a conversation with me about what's going on with them or anything else before they tan. Most of the customers are so nice, but there are also some  who just want to tan and leave without saying a word. I have also had to bite my tongue a few times with customers because there are some things at work that I'm not allowed to do, such as changing bulbs or opening the tanning beds and even some things on the computer. Some customers do not understand that and it causes a conflict between us. Usually when I'm trying to tell them that I can't or I'm not allowed to do some of the things are wanting me to do, they simply do not want to hear it and they just go on there merry way all mad about something that I have no control over. I also work with probably the sweetest people I have ever worked with. My manager and I are probably the closest out of anybody there. I can tell her anything and we always have long conversations when I see her. She's almost like my second mother to me and she's always there to back me up. She has two kids, one of which works with me, and he other one comes in sometimes to talk to me for a little bit. The others I see every now and then and I always make sure that I talk to them before I leave. About this time last year, I was able to get one of my really good friends to work there so I also get to talk to her a lot. There is a few girls that I don't get along with so I usually just stay away from them. But the girls that I do get along with, are so sweet and help me out or fill in for me anytime I need them. Working there has been quite and experience but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love the people that come into to work and also the ones that I work with!

My hometown.

I was stuck on ideas to write about, so I Googled some topics. One of the things I saw was "Your Hometown", therefore I'm going to write about my hometown.
I grew up in a neighborhood in Wetumpka, Alabama, in the same house my mom grew up in. With only a few kids living in the neighborhood, I spent most of my time at their houses. All the parents got along and knew each other very well, so there was never a problem with all the kids playing together at each other's house. Even though, all of those friends moved away and I'm still living in the same house, I still talk to them every now and then. My hometown itself, is a pretty small town, not as small as others but is small enough t o know a good bit if the people in the community. Although the school I went to was a few miles out of Wetumpka, I still knew a lot of the people that went to Wetumpka. I also came to know a lot of people through city league baseball and softball when my brother and I played. Every year I had somebody on my team that I had played with before. I like my hometown especially because not only do I know a lot of the people, but there it also things every year such as the Christmas parade, pageants, New Years' Eve festivities and so many more things that the whole community got together for. A lot of people couldn't wait to get away from the small town of Wetumpka, but I on the other hand, don't want to leave my hometown where all my friends and family live.
